Pretty decopage picture DIY

What You’ll Need:
1. one sheet of watercolor paper, any size you want (this is 11×15)
2. vintage jewelry pieces, knick-knacks, keys, buttons, etc.
3. paper punch (i used a butterfly punch from the martha stewart craft collection) (optional)
4. colored paper
5. hot glue gun
6. paint (i recommend spray paint)
7. frame

Instructions:
1. gather your pieces and make any paper punched shapes you want so you have all of your materials ready.
2. lay out your design on the paper. if you are not comfortable with freehand layout, sketch the shape on scrap paper and lay it down as a template. you can also trace it very lightly so you can erase it.
3. if you decide to paint everything, i recommend taking a digital photo of your layout so it will be easy to place back together.
4. paint your objects. if you use spray paint, do it outdoors on a piece of cardboard.
5. once dry, replace all your objects on the paper in your design and make sure your image is set out evenly on the paper.
6. pick up one object at a time and dab glue on the back. place back down and clean off any hot glue strands. you can also use a hairdryer to make them disappear (it works!).
7. once dry, frame your piece.
8. write a love note in the corner or on back of the piece and expect a great response for your beautiful work.

VOILA!

DIY pretty birchwood table

Author: Crystal  //  Category: DIY Projects

This is such a pretty table idea! I have done several smaller ones as side tables for my living room and beside my bed with a square glass instead of round. It does take awhile to dry branches if you do them yourself, but if you have a nursery nearby you can see if they have some. Thats where I got mine.

Another great use for birch logs is using them for a table base like this one by All You.   Since these logs need to be uniform and level, you will want to make sure that the logs you are using are fully dried.  It normally takes about a year per inch for natural drying.  However, you can also purchase logs all dried and ready to go from places like Spirit Of The Woods.   As for the glass tabletop, I have picked up these from Michaels fairly inexpensively. Or you can check out Amazon.com

DIY Wall Garden Favors

These vertical terrarium wedding favors make great gifts because they don’t take any room, and are extremely easy to maintain. Who wouldn’t want to bring a little bit of the outdoors to their home or office?

- Gravel (can be found at any pet store in the aquarium section)
- Air plants, cactus or succulents (you will need a small amount of potting soil if not using air plants)
- Moss
- spray paint
- magnetic metal tins (from here or here, you just need to slap magnetic tape on the back!)
- Dremel tool
- painter’s tape
- E6000 glue

Cover your tins with painter’s tape before you begin spray painting the inside of them. Spray tins with 3-4 light coats until they have are opaque in solid white. While your tins are drying, remove the acrylic top from all lids by putting a small amount of pressure with your hands to pop them off. Measure the diameter and mark a line with a permanent marker. Using the diamond cutter tip of your Dremel tool, slice all acrylic lids in halves (you can also try different shapes or drill holes). Lightly sand the edges using a sander tip of your Dremel tool.

Place acrylic tops back in the metal frame of the caps and glue both pieces. We also recommend dabbing the edges of the tins with a q-tip with glue to seal the lids to prevent the weight from the gravel popping out of the containers. It took one wall terrarium to splash gravel all over the floor for us to figure that out :)

Once your tins are dry from spray paint, remove tape and wash tins with water and soap. Close all tins, now with open front lids. Add gravel, misty moss and air plants. If you prefer building a closed terrarium and skipping cutting the lids, you will need activated charcoal, which can be found in the aquarium section at any pet store. Air plants won’t work well in closed containers, so you may want to switch to ferns and small leafy plants.

Easy DIY Cherry Blossom Craft!

Author: Crystal  //  Category: DIY Projects

This is a VERY easy DIY craft that you can do with your kids! Try it out and tell me what you think! I use the same technique to make flowers in different colors. I did not create this I am just sharing it with my fan’s If you would like to see more of her crafts check out this page by AlphaMom

Make cherry blossom artwork with a recycled 2-liter soda bottle as a stamp! Here are the detailed instructions.

Start by using dark paint to paint a branch on poster board. Branches are easy to paint. If you can’t paint in a straight line, it looks even better.

I cut this piece of poster board in half lengthwise because I want it to look more like an art panel than a poster.

Once the branch is painted, let it dry before continuing with the stamping.

Now let’s do the stamping. Pour some paint on a paper plate and dip the plastic bottle.

The bottom of 2-liter soda bottle has five points like the five petals of a cherry blossom.

Press the plastic bottle on the poster board, then lift up. Dip the bottle in more paint each time you repeat the stamp. This is really fun, add as many blossoms as you want.

  • Wrap jewelry wire around jar to secure and make a loop at the top to hang.
  • To make the vase more decorative, thread beads through the wire and wrap around the vase.
  • Decorate the jar using Permanent Markers and glitter glue. Let dry.
  • Fill with water, add flowers and hang on a suction cup from a window.
