Morning everyone! So everyone knows just how important my daughter is to me. I do everything in my power to protect and keep her safe, and this started even before she was born. I looked into everything that had anything to do with babies and their safety. This meant checking out car seats, cribs, clothes, diapers, toys, hospitals and yes cord blood banking centers. I did a lot of research into cord blood banking or donation and I truly believe that it is something that is needed! I unfortunately was not able to do cord blood banking or donation myself because it was frankly more expensive then I was able to afford at the time. I looked into donating my daughters cord blood for others, but unfortunately my hospital did not allow me to donate it. Their policy allowed private banking, but no donations. I was very upset about this and wished at the time there was something I could do about it. It is definitely something that I will be saving for when I decide to have another baby, but if you are interested in trying to win Viacord one of the nations leading cord banking companies has a giveaway going on their Facebook page.
To enter for your chance to win simply ‘Like’ ViaCord’s Facebook page and take a one-question survey. You can even gain an additional entry by sharing the survey with your friends on Twitter! The cord blood banking prize includes ViaCord’s cord blood collection kit, shipping and processing of the cord blood, and the first year storage for a single birth (valued around $2,250). There can be one survey entry per person and a winner will be randomly drawn at the conclusion of the giveaway period. To learn more, read the official rules here.
It definitely something you should check out. Cord blood stem cells are used to help over 80 life threatening diseases! Did you know that? If something were to happen that Ari would need her cord blood later in life, I’m not sure I will forgive myself for not trying harder to store it.
